Stay Updated On What's New In The Puzzle World
Hey everyone! I try and take every opportunity that I can to do puzzles from brands I’ve never tried before. I’m all for sinking into the comfort of a puzzle brand I know, but there’s definitely something exciting about trying something new. Lantern Press is one of those new-to-me brands, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you!...CONTINUE READING
There seems to be quite a bit of crossover between the puzzling community and avid readers. While scrolling through Puzzlegram, I often see folks’ stories about books – especially audiobooks. For the most part, I’ve always been a reader myself, but during the worst days of the pandemic, when the daily news was so bleak, I found it difficult somehow to escape into a book.
It’s taken until this year for me to get back to my pre-pandemic reading levels, but I’m taking the opportunity this month to celebrate National Book Lovers Day – August 9th – by tackling two particularly bookish puzzles that caught my eye as being super-fun crossovers between these two hobbies that have so enriched my life…CONTINUE READING
The night sky is full of mysteries and wonder, and stunning images from space crafts and observatories—including the new James Webb Telescope—have only fueled our imaginations. I’ve always enjoyed seeing these images and hearing stories, real or imagined, of people traveling beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. I was even one of 12,000 people to apply to be an astronaut in 2021! But since that didn’t pan out, I decided to take a tour of the universe through puzzles...CONTINUE READING
June gloom is upon us and I must admit… I absolutely LOVE chilly, gloomy, and gray days. It's widely been known that Los Angeles, the place I call home, is all sunshine all the time. This has been true since the dawn of L.A.s inception. What people don’t know is that the last 3-4 years, Los Angeles has had a very gloomy and chilly June. As we speak, the weather has been hovering at 68 degrees. Wanna know a secret? CONTINUE READING
Hello there! It’s been another month of especially vigorous puzzling at the Puzzle Ambassador’s Residence, and right after pausing my stopwatch to chase the cat up the stairs and grab a slobber-soaked puzzle piece out of his jaw, I had to wonder whether his contributions were actually helping or hindering my puzzling on the whole. I’ve always been an outdoorsy, nature-loving gal who tries to do what I can to protect the environment. I’m an obsessive recycler, toss everything I can into the compost bin and never use chemicals on my lawn. I try to live by the phrase “every day is Earth Day!” The actual Earth Day is celebrated every April 22nd on the anniversary of the first one held back in 1970 as a grassroots initiative to increase environmental awareness. Air and water ships, old castles and ruins, steampunk machinery, and plenty of animals for good measure. What’s not to love? These common elements are just some of the reasons why I find myself frequently coming back to puzzles with artwork by Ciro Marchetti. According to my puzzle tracking spreadsheet (yes, I have one of those!), I have put together more than fifteen different puzzles featuring his artwork and have quite a few more in the to-do pile! On a snowy Saturday morning in November, puzzlers of all ages came together in Shelbyville, Indiana to participate in Puzzle Palooza, a speed puzzling competition hosted by and benefitting Shelby Senior Services. That’s right, I said speed puzzling. If you aren’t familiar with the topic, it is exactly what it sounds like and I’m here to tell you it is F-U-N! CONTINUE READING
There’s a new puzzle company in the house, the Puzzle Warehouse, and it’s name is Professor Puzzle. What started out as a metal puzzle company sold at neighborhood markets quickly grew into a full fledged puzzle and game business. Professor Puzzle not only makes the Metal Earth products, but they also make wooden puzzles, and board games. I have to admit, I have never heard of this company before. CONTINUE READING
